Looking For Advice On Proposed Build

Hi everyone.

This will be my second build ever. My first build was about a decade ago and it died a few months ago. I've been looking through comments and trying to do my research before I start buying parts and wind up putting together a build that could've been done better for cheaper.

I'm looking to spend close to $2,000 total. (this would be my buying parts over a few paychecks) I'm looking to spend that much on just the system itself, not including the OS and peripherals. Mainly I use my computer for gaming, some photo editing, and some general business work.

My thought process on some of the items, such as the motherboard, was that I could use the selected parts now and then swap them out in the future once I get more cash on hand.

At the surface it looks like a good deal, but I definitely prefer AMD over Intel for this use case and price point. I am unsure if intel is bringing their latest processors to the x299 platform, but given their past, its highly unlikely. The AM4 socket has been confirmed by AMD to support upcoming processors until 2020. How soon are you looking to complete this build? Loads of new information is being released daily due to Computex, so you might see a case you like there. I made a few changes, let me know what you think of them. If main use is gaming and only SOME photo editing, my build would be better imo. A stronger CPU gaming wise and a much better SSD not only capacity wise, but in general.

Hey, thanks for the new list and ideas! Also, you're right, I feel like an idiot for forgetting that there's new releases all the time right now with Computex. As far when I was looking to build, my general timeframe was to have all the pieces in and build the computer by September. I figured that would give me enough time to do even more research and stretch out the cost between paychecks enough where I would have a little extra cash on hand.

Thanks for the ideas! You're right that that is definitely a better cpu and ssd (and the cpu was cheaper, which surprised me). I definitely need to do some more research, but this has definitely been a big help!

Computex nearly has gone over my head this year too, don't worry about it. If I were you, I'd be eyeing releases from NZXT, InWin, and Phanteks. HardwareCanucks is a great channel that does in depth reviews of cases, the more information the better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa3tjSCJY7s
If September's your time frame, then we may receive more information regarding the GTX 1180, so I'd watch that topic closely as well. Festina Lente.

Ryzen is better in this case, I agree. Only 2 things:
For Ryzen fast RAM is a must, so 3200Mhz is extremely preferable
You'll want a better SSD than that (850 evo at least, 960 evo if you can stretch)
