[SOLVED] Looking for advice on what to upgrade next on my gaming PC.

Hi. I have my little budget build PC that I built in late 2017 that has served me well so far, but I'm itching to have it improved to get better gaming performance out of it since the 1060 has troubles maintaining 60fps on high in the vast majority of new releases. Thing is though, I dont know how much I'd have to change if i wanted a new GPU (lets say a 1070). Not sure if I'd have to buy a new MOBO, or PSU to support the increased power consumption.

CPU: I5 7600k with hyper 212 cooler

GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 6gb MINI

MOBO: MSI B250M PRO-VD

RAM: Ballistix Sport 2x4 2400

PSU: EVGA 430W

Storage: WD Blue 1TB, Samsung 850 EVO 250Gb

Windows 10

Case: Thermaltake Versa N21



I dont want to go over $1000 in upgrades. So nothing crazy like a 2080. More along the lines of a 1080 or 1070Ti; but would that mean id need to upgrade my PSU? MOBO? Larger Case? and if so, what would you recommend? Thank you for your time.

You won't need a new motherboard for a new GPU.

You may need a new PSU depending on how much more power you'd be drawing.

For example, the 1060 can draw a maximum of 120W, the 1070 is 150W so not a huge leap, if you've got a good quality PSU, and you're not going mad on other additional components, 430W could work, but you'd be going against OEM guidelines of 500W

So new Mobo, no. New PSU maybe.

VGA Limitation for your case:
250mm (with HDD cage)
360mm (without HDD cage)
As long as your GPU of choice is within that, you're good for you case too.

PSU is going to have to be upgraded. Also I would not go with GTX 1070 that would just be a waste of money your going to have to go 1080 or higher to notice any kind of major upgrade, but that 1060 card should be over 60 FPS in any game to date in 1080p. Anything higher then that is a toss up. If you want to run anything more then 1080p you will have to get a 1080 or higher. You don't want to spend more then 1000 dollars well sorry that just not going to happen unless you go 1080p. Which it has been proven by Science that the human eye cannot see more then 30 FPS in 1080p, so 1440p or higher is useless anyway.
