I am building a new PC as a late Christmas present for myself, and am looking for advice/any thoughts on the best I can push for with a budget between £1,000 to £1,500.
I need to be able to run Valorant and CSGO at 300+ FPS consistently.
I currently have a rough idea of a few things that I have set my sights on:

Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Case
Going with a Ryzen CPU, maybe 5600X?
Nvidia 3 series card? (Have a 1060 that can be used if a better GPU is not worth the price hike right now)
16GB 3600MHZ DDR4 Ram
PCIE Gen 4.0 support

Any suggestions or thoughts on the build are welcome, as long as compatibility is no concern.

Solution
I would do something like this, you will still get around 300 fps with a 12600k.

As you are surely aware you cannot buy a really high end graphics card, alone, for that budget. You can build a really nice system in expectation of finding a card later, and continue to use the 1060. It will be your limiting factor.

I would base that desire against the system you are using now and it's utilization for use case and go from there.

Hows this? I put a 5900x instead of 5600x, just to make sure you get the 300fps.

The mobo has 4, yes 4, m.2 ssd slots, and wifi ax built in. PSU should be ok for "up to" 3090 lol

If you do get a 5600x instead of the 5900x, just put the leftover £500 towards the gpu mate, you're going to need it!

I'd wait until next week (January 6th) when Intel's locked Alder Lake cpu's are due for release and read the reviews w/benchmarks on sites such as Tom's Hardware, Tech Power Up and Guru3d. If those chips are a hit like some of us expect then I'd pair up one of those cpu's with a B660 board. Those boards will be released the same day as those cpu's.

You can replace the board and cpu with a B660 board + locked Alder Lake cpu and keep the rest of this build the same.

So with the Alder Lake CPUs out now, it looks like for the games I play the Ryzen CPUs outperform the Intel ones.

I'm not worried either way, as long as I can run Valorant and CSGO at a stable 300 FPS without dropping below 240.

Not worth the trade offs but you can go with an AMD CPU.

I appreciate your help greatly, I would prefer to stick with my 1060 6GB for now, which is why I was wondering which CPU would allow me 300+ FPS with that card in CPU intensive games like Valorant and CSGO, i'd be more comfortable with getting a higher end CPU and upgrading the GPU later on this year.

I just wanted to show that you have options at or close to your budget right now, cheers.
