Hello Everyone, this is my first post. I have been a long time reader, but I am looking to take on my first actual build. I have helped my brother with 1-2 builds in the past, but honestly had little to do with actually getting things done. Rather than ask him to spoon feed me again on this, I am looking forward to attempting to put this box together myself. I have been doing a bunch of research and I think I have a good core down in terms of my bits and pieces but I figured it's a safe bet to run this sort of thing past the community, and see if anyone spots any red flags...

I think for my real use case it's going to be a bit overkill... but I am ok with that.
I am hoping that this box will last me a pretty long time without needing any serious updates.
My budget is between 2-3k... I would like to stick around 2500-2750 range if possible.
The main goals are to be able to edit 4k video projects in Adobe Premiere and get some solid gaming done. I also will eventually be trying some streaming stuff, but that's more for fun, and to try some stuff out...

Case: $99.99
NZXT S340VR Elite Case in Matte Black

Motherboard: $279.99
MSI Computer X99A Gaming Pro Carbon ATX Motherboard

Chip: $388.00
Intel Core i7-6800k Processor (15M Cache, up to 3.60 Ghz) FC-LGA14A

RAM: $339.88
G.Skill TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz DIMM

GPU: $749.99
Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11GB

PSU: $129.47
EVGA SuperNOVA 850w G3 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular

SSD: $247.99 **** UPDATED Thank you *****
Samsung 960 EVO Series - 500 GB NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD

For CPU Cooling: $159.99
NZXT Kraken X6 AIO CPU Liquid Cooling system

For Case Cooling and also RGB LED Control: $89.99
NZXT HUE+ Controller with 2x Aer RGB 140mm Fans
(going to use the 140's on the front of the Kraken)

Exhaust Fans: $59.98
2x NZXT Aer RGB 120mm

Additional lighting: $20.99
NZXT HUE+ Extension LED Strips

I don't have any optical drive... and not sure I need it...

I figure with this build, I can bump up another 32GB of RAM in the future, or even throw another 1080 in down the line if I think I really need too but I really think it would be way more then I ever need.

I don't need a lot of internal storage on this box, because I have 20TB worth of storage on Red's inside an Asustor AS6204T NAS on my network. That's where I will store the majority of my stuff.

Solution
Changed some stuff, since the X99 platform is currently in a quite odd state. Prices are way outmatched by ryzen, in terms of multithreaded performance/dollar, but lacks a bit in gaming compared to Intel CPU's. When pairing with a 1080 TI, i would definetely go 7700K to get the most out of it. The build seems to have a huge emphasis on aesthetics, which is why i went with the probably meanest looking Z270 motherboard out there (with all the features you could possibly want, ever), so it should compliment your lightning preferences perfectly well.

I think with that kind of budget, you deserve a big case with lots of room and great quality. The 750D from corsair is surely a step up, huge and elegant black metal finish.

Exchanged the G3...
My suggestion would be a beefier PSU, Replace the Crucial with a Samsung drive. Don't skimp on the price for the SSD, it would be a shame. If you're trying to save some money, you'd better off, replacing the watercooler with a Noctua air cooler

Exchanged the G3 for the Seasonic Prime, top of the bunch PSU, with amazing effeciency and quality. A perfect fit for this kind of super high end system with Titanium efficiency compared to gold on the G3, though G3 is also a nice fit.

Also changed the SSD to a Samsung 960 EVO, which is way faster and more durable/enduring than the crucial also newer, much better M.2 technology. Very good for intensive video work aswell, as it can withstand a whole lot of reads/writes.

Changed the GPU to the ASUS Strix, looks way better than the aorus IMO. (Also fits the ROG scheme if you choose to go the Z270 road)

My personal recommendation: As Intel is preparing heavily for the X299 release with general availability in June sometime (the successor to X99 Chipset/platform), I strongly believe you should wait with striking such a huge upgrade if possible. It will bring the skylake architecture into the 6-12 core segment, which you could greatly benefit, for exceptional multicore performance aswell as the strong singlecore performance for gaming that will suit the GTX 1080 Ti very well.

Or, X99 variant, though the X99 platform has no ASUS Formula, which has insane aesthetics in my opinion, but the MSI is of course great too.
