Looking for advice with my build

Hello folks, I would be greatly appreciative of some advice and tips with my build. I'm building a rig pretty much solely for gaming, perhaps 1 or 2 small apps but that's it.

My aim is for 1080p gaming at maxed settings, and moving into 1440p as my finances allow. My first love a and catalyst for building is total war games so that's what I'm shooting for at 1080p at least.

My budget is approx £800-£950, it's not really fixed to anything I'm just keen to save money where money can be saved, but not afraid to spend a little extra if it would make a noticeable difference or future proof the rig a little more. I'm also getting it custom built since I'm a complete novice, not particularly technical and my job doesn't give me much time to learn how to build or actually complete the process. My tentative build is as follows...

Cpu- Intel i5 6500
Cooler- cooler master 213x
Ram- crucial 8gb
Graph card- RX 480 or GTX 1060 (looking for advice here)
Motherboard-gigabyte H110m-s2h
Hard drive- Samsung 250 GB 750 evo SSD
Case- CIT Dragon3
Case fans- aero cool Air Force12cm
PSU- 550w corsair VS
Internet- wireless 802.11N

My goal is to build a 1080p that will can handle high level 1440p in the future and that will remain future proof for the foreseeable future. I'm also keen to make sure as much as possible that the nothing goes wrong cause I doubt my capacity to fix it, so air flow and coolness are important. Plus future upgradability is also a factor.

Any help and advice would be very, very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

P.s, really quick noob question. How do I plug the hdmi cable into the motherboard, is there a slot on the case or already or what?

If you want 1440p maxed maybe get a 1070,the 1060/480 is made for 1080p maxed (right now,not sure about future titles)
and yes,there's a hdmi slot in your mainboard that will allow you to use the Intel HD

Don't use HDMI on mobo as it will use iGPU (integrated intel or integrated amd) instead. Use it for some basic task but not gaming. Do you have a preferred website to build? 480 or 1060 might not handle 1440p very well.

Thanks for the replies, I know the 480/1060 isn't ideal for 1440p, but everything I've read suggests it should hold up ok at medium settings? In any case I plan to upgrade to 1070 and buy a 1440p monitor when finances allow.

The website I'm using is dino of since it's cheaper, and mostly got great reviews as well. I could splurge and get the 1070 now but my plan is to make sure the whole infrastructure is solid, in terms of psu, cooling etc and upgrade as I go.mif I shouldn't plug hdmi into motherboard for gaming where should I plug it into?

Plug directly to the graphics card. 480 and 1060 all support HDMI. Check out those links above. They are from Amazon though.

Those pre-built ones actually seem really good for price, making me think what's the catch? Haha is that quite a reputable brand? Is it worth paying extra for the 16gb ram?

cyberpower is a good brand. a 16GB RAM is good. even though 8 will be enough. Most modern games have a recommended specs of 8 and more ram so why not get 16.

What aboutADMI? They're 1070 looks like really good value, although it doesn't come with wifi which is a bit of a deal braker

You can buy a separate wifi adapter. There isn't much computer with 1070/1060 available yet and getting a single wifi adapter installed should not be a big problem
