Looking For Advice

So I'm trying to find advice on what to do with my holiday bonus. Here's my dilemma. I want both an Asus 980 Ti Strix and an Asus Swift monitor (the PG278Q). The bonus gives me enough currently to buy one or the other, so my question is, should I buy the monitor first, or the card? Currently I have a 780 Ti and am playing on a 1080p monitor. I understand that if I use my card on a 2k monitor it won't run at ultra at 60+ fps on the more demanding games, but will I still be able to run on medium or better do you think if I go with the monitor first? Any advice would be really appreciated.

I had the dilemma recently as well, but decided to go for the Monitor first. Especially in your case where the 780ti already runs 1080p at 60fps plus if I am not mistaken, so really you will not see a difference in the 980ti without that monitor (not saying that the overall FPS won't be more). So go with the monitor first, and then maybe see if you can afford the 980ti down the road
