So I have two existing GeForce 9800 GT cards that I want to SLI. For the CPU, I'm thinking of getting either i5-760 or Phenom II X4, mostly due to the attractive price per performance. What motherboard would you recommend? I've had good experiences with ASUS and Gigabyte boards, so I prefer those brands, but I'm open to others as well. My budget for the mobo is $100-$200, but it can be a little flexible.

Thanks for your help.

$140 M4N98TD EVO - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131636&cm_re=M4N98TD_EVO-_-13-131-636-_-Product

The ASUS M4N98TD EVO is about the only "good" SLI MOBO for what you want to build.

^ Because the other AMD SLI MOBOs have a lot more documented problems, and I know the M4N98TD EVO will work and is in your posted budget ~ look'n out for you. 😉

And yes the AMD is not as good platform or very supported SLI platform. 🙁

Great help, so the AMD side is settled.

I looked around newegg and couldn't find any LGA1156 mobo with PCIe 2.0 dual @ x16. Do they even exist?

As I said "look'n out for you! YES the ASUS is a {2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual @ x16 )} !!!! 😍

Yea the ASUS you linked is dual x16, but that's for AMD. I just wanted to find an Intel mobo that does the same thing to keep my options open. That way... when a good deal comes around, I'm ready to pull the trigger ^^

Cool, cool, so 16x16 and 8x8 are both fine, good to know.
Now how do I pick the best answer on this thread and mark it resolved? :)
