Looking for an AMD CPU

Hello, it's me again, "the guy with s478". 😀

I'm fixing my uncle's PC. The problem is, that its CPU, Athlon 64 X2 6000+ is overheating (idle at ~45C, crashes at ~63C), there were Win7 x64, but he had 2GB of ram. I installed new Win7, but now x86. Didn't helped that much. I decided, that's the CPU. So, what would be a good CPU (don't need hexa, quad would be good,maybe?)? He plays a lot of new games, watches movies. PC is on, for about 24/7.

"Uncle's PC" specs:
ASrock N68C-GS FX
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (no OC) with stock AMD heatsink
2GB of DDR2 RAM
Asus GT640-2GD3
450W PSU.

id say get the fx 6300 its better than the 4300. I would then reload x64 and add ddr3 to that board since it supports it. how many sticks are currently installed just one 2gb or 2 x1gb?

There are 2x1GB ADATA DDR2 800 DIMM's

How about FX-4100? It's cheaper, and I think it's not bad too

If it is overheating, it probably needs the heatsink removed, cleaned, and reapply fresh thermal paste. FX 4100 is better than what he has but it is a horrible CPU. You would be better off with a 95w Phenom II X4 or X6 over that chip.

I swapped the CPU and replaced it with used 4200+. BUT, mobo somehow gone wrong. Yesterday it started very well, but now it wont even start. Its chipset heatsink IS MOVING! I don't know what to do. I don't want to buy a new one because it's 1-2 months old.. Help me..

The whole problem was, because I didn't installed the memory! *facepalm*
