Looking for an external GPU

I was looking at a server with a pcie gen 2 x8 connectors and i would like to add a external GPU, is there anyway i can?

well its a dell t610 that i can get for a really cheap price and i would like to add a graphics card to it (atleast at 970 or 1050ti) and the ports it has are 2 x8 and 2 x4.. so i would like to try and connect an external gpu somehow.. not sure if it will work but all input is valuable . Right, thats not really external if you are putting it inside the computer, using the pci-e slots, thats why your post was confusing.

You can use the x8 ports just fine for graphics cards.

Depends on a few things. What cpu do you have? What PSU do you have and how many amps can I provide on the 12 rail(s)? Does it have any PCI-e power cables?

They usually have good PSUs in them workstations, but cant answer the questions from that advert.

no i think the PSU should be fine, but i dont think it will be able to handle a good gpu like 1050

The 1050 doesnt require a good PSU, its a lower end gpu that only draws around 70w.

Yeah its fine, pci-e 2.0 isnt a bottleneck for that card.

IT should work unless dell have some limitations in the bios.

So a 1050 should work on x8? Sorry I'm not very educated about this.

Correct. Not saying its going to work, as the newer graphics cards sometimes dont work with older systems - But, it wont be because its an x8 slot - thats not a problem.
