My daughter is looking for an inexpensive printer to do mostly school
work for her girls, with an occasional photo. She is replacing an
Epson 800, so most printers will be a step up.

As they are having financial issues and I may but the printer, the
cost of ink is real a concern.

Thanks,
G

You don't say where you are or how much you want to spend, but look at
Canon's range.

Recommend the Canon Pixma ip3000 it is the most affordable printer to
buy AND supply.
3rd party products are readily available. The printer can be purchased
for under $100.00 ( a $20.00 mail-in rebate brings it under $80.00 ) at
most office supply superstores and on-line.

Thank you for the suggestion.

In your opinion is the iP4000 worth $40 more then the iP3000.

My local Staples has the 4000 for $99 after rebate & the 3000 at
Newegg for $47 after rebate.

Thanks,
G

Another way to put it is: is the 4000 worth twice as much as the 3000?

13 years of these types of blowhards, I've learned to laugh at them.

The ip4000 offers reduced consumption of color inks, by using a
dedicated black ink for photos, and inproves black contrast in the same
modes. The improvement is small, but you do get slightly faster plain
paper printing as well. If you can afford the additonal $52 investment
then get the ip4000.

Let him go at, he keeps the topic "new" and supplies scads of free
advertisment, without contributing anything useful...ever. Read some of
his other posts in other topics, its a theme.

It depends how important photo quality is for your daughter. If it isn't key
than the IP3000 would be good enough for school assignments etc.

I am fairly new here. I cannot see where this weink guy is a
prostitute/troll/shill.

Sometimes you have provided useful input, albeit limited to the fact
that you use one make and type of printer, afaics.

Weink seemed to provide references to various sources that have
nothing to do with his own business gains, except to ensure that he
may still have a job if people don't get completely pissed off with
printers.

If you feel that you have useful input to make, then good. But if you
fight others, provide more than invective, or in the end what you _do_
provide will be ignored, to the detriment of all.

snip of long rant. (none of which answered my question. "What did the
