I have got a laptop that my mum uses but due to its weak cpu (amd e240)everything takes a lot of time.
I was wondering to install Linux because she only needs a browser.so anyone know a light linux that runs on it

Haha maybe not the friendliest interface for somebody's mum! If you use LXDE or Xfce you can have a comfortable, familiar and attractive (in my opinion) interface that will run much faster than KDE/GNOME/Unity.

I used to love Bodhi! E17 is beautiful but so glitchy and unfinished. I thought Bodhi did a really good job of patching it up. Over time though I ran into more and more bugs... and I am not at all tolerant of bugs! It's definitely worth trying though to see how you go with it.

Joli OS is a Linux distrobution that is very lightweight, and almost everything is cloud based (so it can run on low spec systems, and so your mom doesn't have to worry about anything but a browser).

Joli OS is "out of focus" officially. There's no obvious new development on it, and it's not likely to get many (if any) updates from upstream now that Ubuntu 10.04 desktop is outside of its support period. If it's not dead then it's certainly petrified.

Disappointing (I had considered taking it for a spin myself just for curiosity) but that's the way it goes with open source, Linux especially. Lubuntu and Xubuntu are probably the best options for a lightweight distro. Not quite as lightweight as other LXDE/Xfce-based distros, but lightweight enough for most setups without sacrificing the safety net of a large userbase. You'd need some pretty old hardware to struggle on those.
