Hello, I need help determining and finding upgrade components. I don't know much about anything other than CPUs and GPUs, but even my knowledge on that is limited. So long story short I am planning on having my benchmark being able to smoothly run the game Subnautica. I currently run a..

- 2010 Gateway DX4300 Desktop (stop laughing).
- Acer GN246HL monitor
- Windows 10 x64
- AMD Phenom II x4 820 2.8 GHz
- AMD Radeon HD 6670 GPU
- 8 GB DDR2 Ram (2 slots)
- WDC WD10EADS-22M2B0 ATA disk drive
- Gateway RS780 mobo
- ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics
- standard heat sink/fan combo.

At one point I was looking at the AMD FX8350 w Wraith Cooler but it is not compatible with my mobo. I am able to run things like Skyrim, & Elder Scrolls Online @ 30 fps, Fallout 4 @ 15-20 fps, but Subnautica crashes my PC as soon as the main menu loads. I was also looking at those CPU/ Mobo/ RAM packages but became totally lost, and then it needed additional info on the Hard Drive..? Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Even if you can not recommend specific Brands/ Makes/ Models, then just specs I should be aware of will also help. I would LOVE to hit that 4GHz CPU speed! I understand I have a good idea of the specs i need, but no idea where to find a good value for those specs and if any particular product has additional requirements. TIA.

Well, I want to save as much money as possible (obviously) but I don't have any set budget for it right now. I freelance so I have some projects coming up and even if I have to buy it piece by piece and wait to assemble it is fine, but upwards of about $400 - $500? Even then, I can potentially go double - triple that if needed, it will just take me longer to buy. As of right now my PC serves it's purpose for my work. If you can use $500 as the max then good, but if not maybe try to keep it as close to it as possible? I know it is not much help but almost all of my freelance money is gravy to me that I pay taxes on.

Additional note: I DO NOT need to play Subnautica in VR. Just PC & monitor is fine by me.

You might could forgo the hard drive but I'd want to replace it. Pretty sure you'll have to rebuy windows comming from gateway, but if you MIGHT be able to link it to your windows account and move it over. Would shred the game from the requirements listed.
