I just recently bought a RTX 3090, so I'm looking at several different options of monitor upgrades, since I want to upgrade my monitor its several years old and and double the refresh rate monitors exist now for a fantastic price. One, a 270 HZ 1440P monitor. Two are looking super promising to me, this one:

and the new one coming out from ASUS the XG27AQM.

I'm also wondering if I should upgrade to 4k 144hz. It wouldn't be much of a drop from the 165 HZ refresh rate I'm used to today and hey, its 4k. 2560x1440 resolution seems so 15 years ago but, I don't really want to waste my money either. There's a 4k monitor that looks extremely promising, the LG 27GN950-B but its $300 more expensive than the 1440's that I'm looking at. Would I really notice much more of a difference at 4k? Or would over double the refresh rate be the king that takes over? I want the biggest bang for my buck since I invested a lot of money in a 3090 and a 3090 is probably way overkill for my monitor right now. I get 165 fps virtually everywhere I go in most games with my 3060 ti let alone a 3090. It just seems... overkill unless I upgrade.

I would recommend going ultrawide. While they do cost more, the added width of the screen makes all the difference. You can get 144 or 175Hz refresh rate 3840x1600 monitors or go really insane and go with a 240Hz 5120x1440 monitor. Sadly 4k ultrawides are limited to 75Hz at the moment.

I ended up deciding on a 4k 144hz monitor. Mainly because many games look nice in 4k and cannot truly get to 144 hz yet. No matter how strong of a card we get. So I figured I might as well downgrade on most games for better resolution and picture.
