Hey everyone, I'm kinda new here. I had bought the amd r7 250x quite a while back and although it's a great card I thought it was time for an upgrade, any suggestions?
I am a bit strict on budget here and don't want to go extreme ( r9 295) something within $250.
Thanks in advance.

the gtx 960 and the r9 280x are close in performance the 960 has 2 and 4gb models and the 280x is 3gb, the 280x has better performance on average but also runs hotter and consumes a bit more power.

As previous answers have mentioned, the Nvidia Gtx 960 is a great option.

Due to the new Maxwell architecture it runs cool, and requires a lower tdp then usual.

The Evga Gtx 960 is a great option for a $250 price range. It comes factory overclocked, has dual bios, extremely powerful fans, the ACX 2.0.

I have this exact card and it has been great so far. I was able to overclock my gpu 70 megahertz over the factory clock speed, with solid temps and no artifacts.

Thanks
