Hey Everyone,
I have a PC I received From my local Computer Recycling Depot, That was like a fish tank when I received it... I had disassembled the whole PC, and let it dry throughly and Everything was working for like 2-3 weeks or so. Anyway, thats not the reason Im Here, I am here because My WD2500BPVT 2.5 Inch Hard Disk started a fire.... I was also doing something beforehand that may influence the reason for a fire to break out... I had the PC Which is a Dell Optiplex 990 At my Cabin for last night, I have brought it back home, And when I plugged it in, It wouldn't boot or anything... (I was using the OEM PSU That came with the PC) I unplugged the HDD to see if it was causing the PC to not boot. After I was 100% Confident that it wasnt the HDD, I moved to a Different PSU, which Is A EVGA - 80 PLUS 600W ATX 12V/EPS 12V Power Supply - Black (CERTIFIED REFURBISHED) that I purchased from Newegg. It still didnt do anything, so I reseated my ram like 20 times to see if it was a RAM Slot or one of my RAM Sticks itself. I eventually found out it was the ram, after I powercycled my PC Like 30 times to find out.... So, after I got it working I reconnected the Original PSU and powered it up and..... I saw SMOKE And Within 5 seconds or so I then saw a FIRE I then Obviously rushed to the plug to pull it out (So i dont burn down my house) And I waited a few minutes then grabbed my HDD And in the top left corner there is a Black spot, I just dont know why it caught fire, the PSU Is clear and everything else looks good... Anyone have any answers?
