I've had Turtle Beach X12s for more than two years, and I'm thinking of upgrading. Not just any upgrade, though. I'm willing to spend $400. I've looked at some online, but I'm still not sure what to get. My criteria: it should not have an overly sensitive mic, and block out other noise (my X12s could capture sound from across the house sometimes); Surround sound is something I expect at that price, and have heard simulated is better; wireless is a plus, but not necessary, as I will mainly use it on PC; Xbox 360 compatibility would also be nice, but I can always use my X12s; any other nice features would be great. If its a little over budget, I might still consider it.

Should have put the word headset in the title with good mic added but not the emphasis...

For that price just get the Astro A40's (the 2013 edition), A50's

Or the Sennheiser PC 360

I can name so many other headsets but if you really want the best those are the 2 (A50 & PC360) I would recommend for top of the line.
