I have a gpu Nvidia thx 970 with HDMI exit and my screen is a Dell S 2716D6. I bought the screen espesialy for the gsync. It turns out i cant play gsync with HDMI and i understand that DP doesnt play at 144hz, wich my screen and my gpu can do. Any help pls.

Solution
well what I see not for using gsync you need that full display port cable like I linked above for how I see it

heres what this guy said

''I have that exact monitor, it has 2 modes, g-sync and normal. G-sync use only DP, while normal mode use HDMI/DVI. You can connect 2 cables at once, which is what I'm doing. One cable to DP to use g-sync, one to DVI to use normal mode. You can change mode simply by clicking on the monitor.''

I do think amd freesync is better that is all on the card /driver and not 1/2 card 1/2 monitor where you got to buy a monitor equipped with the NVidia part to be able to use it

I assume AMD's solation can be used with any monitor , sad part is you got to use a amd card

then I'm not hip on gimmickware anyway

Solution
@madmatt: its a GeForce gtx970 from gainward and it has only HDMI port and something else that doesnt look Like DP or HDMI. I think its something for older screenst

@Tosse83 - any 970 has to have dp out mate , it's a standard , nvidia wouldn't allow a third party to produce a card without it.

Point your card model off the gainward page

It may have mini-dp which you're overlooking because they are tiny ports

They're mini dp in the image above.
