Hello tech gurus,
I'm looking for an IDE to SATA adapter to use to access several older hard drives.
I don't know what is worth buying and what is trash.
Can anyone educate me?
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Not sure I understand what you mean by either an "external enclosure". By a pcie card for ide you mean get a pcie card that will accept ide inputs? What are those called?

Thanks again for the attention.
So I need both of those?
I ask cos these drives won't be permanent additions to my rig. I just want the data that I'm hoping still survives on them. I'm happy to just wire them in for a few hours and then set them back on a shelf after I get the files off 'em.
I should have some extra SATA connection ports sometime next week and was hoping for a converter that would take the IDE pin connection and provide an adapter for the SATA cable.
I just don't know which products to trust and which are going to annoy me by draining my wallet and then not working. ;)
Cheers
