well I am for sure, but many complications means I am gonna take long. Hopefully I'll get it within this month

hahahahah you got a point but the problem is what if the over all price if he sell his mobo and cpu didn't reach the price of amd ^_^ set up ... i think its much better to stay where he is. although he has a good card 9800gt he can use a 3d monitor .... its better to upgrade his cpu coz his cpu is not so good ^_^ like mine Pentium D 3.0ghz hehehe

yahhh i feel you man we have a same situation buying a one product took a month in saving our money to buy hehehe.. much better to buy high end good for 4 to 7 years like quad core ^_^

DAM CRAP! I myt end up buying an E6300 instead or worse an E5400 bcoz I'm kinda in the need of an optical drive and desk and also the budget sucks

He has a mobo, a CPU AND $120. If he sells his mobo and cpu he can move to the newest AMD socket, AM3 and that's a future proof build. I'd sell the whole thing, mobo, RAM, CPU, while it still worth good money and go AM3/DDR3. LGA 775 is dead.

i have a 100% good tip for you wilem buy that e5400 then overclock it up to 3.0 or 4.0 ghz at least you save a little bit of your money then you can buy a dvd rom together with your cpu e5400 ..... dual core is good and recommended in overclocking like i3 .... Timop was right crysis is more dependent on GPU and to all other games to come

Unless you absolutely cannot save up more money than your suggested budget, do not upgrade CPU to another dual core. Difference will be very minimal in regular use and you probably end up regretting your decision to upgrade.

He has intel mobo.....

yah his right if you want to upgrade your cpu just make sure it is 3 to 5 steps away from your previous cpu... like you are having a dual core 2.0ghz then you are planning to upgrade a still dual core but its a 2.7 or 2.9ghz .. its a waste of money after 3 years from now your gonna upgrade it again into a quad core because the game are getting heavier .. i am advising you to save your money for a little bit month then buy a quad core

before i have a worse pc set up than you have. i have a dual core 1.6ghz 2g ram and ati hd3650 i play crysis in medium set up no AA but still looks good for me i got a 24fps from the game but still fine 😀 😀

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/98?vs=94 E6300 vs e5300. (they dont have the e5400)

So between the E6300 and E5400 (just add/subtract a few more numbers to the e5300 results), there not much of a difference.

So what ever more cost effective and/or what you can get, get either one.

In theory, that would be the case. Although unlike most games, WoW is not gpu dependent. It cpu dependent. Crysis on the other hand is more gpu dependent but the gpu can be bottlenecked by the cpu. From what i learn, in order not to bottleneck modern gpu(s) on a dual core cpu (maybe true for even quad cores) is to have the cpu clock running in the 3 Ghz range.

Hmm.... Looking at the benches, im sure he'll notice the different even now.

Don't worry too much about the benchmarks. Get the best CPU that you can afford i.e. E7500. When your old mobo gives up on you, you can easily bring this CPU to your new build. Just make sure you get a mobo that will allow overclocking. It may still be 775 but it makes sense as the cheapest upgrade path for you right now.

You can't expect too much on Crysis on a low budget like that. It's best to save up and buy a new AMD board and a new AMD CPU. Or another option is to get the E7500 and buy a better graphics card. For graphics card a Radeon HD 5770 is a good deal. If you consider getting an AMD CPU, get a Phenom II X4 955.

how about a Q8400 and a 9800gt i think that will be fine on a 17 inch monitor
