Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next week or so. Might try to grab a couple things on cyber Monday if I can find good deals for comparable parts.

Budget Range: Around $1400 before rebates and after shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mostly gaming & internet.

Are you buying a monitor: No, I have one that will do for now.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: No preference, as long as they ship to Toronto.

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Parts Preferences: NVIDIA graphics card preferred

Overclocking: Probably not at the time (but if the capability can be included with no downside, why not).

SLI or Crossfire: Same as above.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050

Additional Comments: Don't need any particular bling/lights/swag, I'm already quite gangster.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Currently using a 4 year old laptop with no dedicated graphics card for gaming; lets just say it gets interesting.

Thanks a bunch in advance for your time/advice.

Given you a 2 way SLI supported board with a good quality 750 watt PSU if you want to SLI in future for the time being at your resolution a single gtx 970 is enough to max out any game also the CPU is a unlocked one.

in the future when second GTX 970 is added , i7 4790K will serve better than i5 4690K . Also i have avoided RAM with big heatspreaders , so when other 2x4GB is added later on , they wont block the huge cooler . 120GB for ssd is too little . Windows takes 40-50GB , 20GB recovery partition , also there are games 17GB .
