I have a i3 6100 with a 1050ti and I get under 140 fps at times in csgo playing all low, 1024x768 black bars. I want to upgrade my CPU so what is the best cpu + motherboard I can get for 300. And is buying a i7 7700k worth it, I wouldn’t need to buy a motherboard please help

If your mb will work with a 7700k it's something to think about. Newer cpus in your range you probably want to look at amd 2600 or intel i5 8400. You can probably even squeeze a 2600x and motherboard if you wanted. Those 3 are also some of the best preformance to price cpus out now. I'm not big on choosing a mobo for people. There are plenty of decent ones out there and many brands to choose. I would just go with the one you feel best about and give it a shot. I'm sure someone will have a good recommendation if you need it.

Yeah but I forgot to say I want to play PUBG as well rn it's unplayable under 60 fps

if you look at the recommended requirements for PUBG you will see it will require at least an intel i5 7600K and a GTX 1060 6GB or better. so there would be no reason to change out your motherboard if its compatible with a 7th gen intel CPU however you will need a better GPU as well to get the FPS you want

you can find the requirements here:

https://www.pcgamer.com/pubg-system-requirements/

OS: 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5-1600 / Intel Core i5-7600K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB or better

In case you're dying to go for an i7. Do keep in mind that a Kabylake i5 CPU is a much better investment than a non-K i7 CPU. Specially for gaming. I would also recommend you keep your current motherboard and go for the i5-7700k.

If you're really want to change both, for 300$ Ryzen offers a very interesting lineup here with the Ryzen 5 2600 CPU + Asrock AB350 Pro4 Mobo

What board do you currently have? I would just spend the $300 on a CPU rather than split it between CPU and board but thats just me.
