Hi. I'm looking to buy a decent entry level keyboard as the one I have now is very old, squishy, and obnoxious. I would prefer my new one to be back lit (although not necessary), have relatively decent responsiveness not at the cost of being ridiculously loud, and for it to last me at least a few years. A mouse combo would be a nice bonus but is unnecessary. Any options?

Depends how much you want the back-light. If your not too bothered about it and just want it for the looks then get the essential however if you can't live without it then get the expert edition. I just payed an extra £40 ($60) for the back lit version of the Razer BlackWidiow just so that it would look better on my desk.
The best options are the Corsair Raptor K30 for about $40 or the Logitech G105 for about $50. Both are backlit. Or you can get the Razer DeathStalker Expert Edition (the backlit edition) for just a few bucks more or the essential edition (non-backlit edition) for about $45.
