Hi everyone,

A friend has asked me for advice on building a new PC. It's been around 3+ years since I built my last PC, so I'm a little bit out of the loop on the latest hardware, differences between how Intel VS Ryzen are doing these days (Although I always preferred Ryzen) and GPU prices being insane due to Bitcoins.

I used to see suggestions on the forums where users would submit their budget gaming builds, but I can't see to find it anyway, maybe it's been discontinued in the past few years since I last came here?

My friend has a budget of around £800-£1400 ($950-$1600). That is just for the PC itself, so no need to worry about things like mouse, keyboard, monitor etc. It will mostly be for games such as CoD, Overwatch, Apex.

Can you guys please give some suggestions on a decent gaming PC based on his budget and comments as to why you'd recommend this particular build. If possible can I also get some suggestions with various different builds within that budget region, rather than only giving suggestions for the highest point of the budget please. Thanks!

What is your friends monitor resolution or does he need a monitor included in the budget?

You can get a cheap USB flash drive, download Windows Installer and use the free version of Windows 11 for now in order to save a few quid.
