Hey fellow gamers,

I haven't been in the loop with the latest technology and competition in regards to gaming builds for a long while. I was wondering if someone could help me by putting together potentially a newegg cart or a parts list for a beast machine with a 2k budget.

I'm an AMD fan but if you see better performance with Intel, go for it.
I would like to have some amount of SSD in there.

Types of games I play.

Arma 3
Total War games,
GTA V
Some MMO's
Witcher

Bottom line this beast should be able to conquer those games at the very least.
I have a monitor and other accessories, this thread is simply for the actual PC

Not opposed to a bit of watercooling if necessary, perhaps for the CPU.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it

Found this build that looks really nice :3

Doesn't include OS because I assume you already have that by saying you have all accessories. The PSU is about $150 but it is currently out of stock most places, just Google it and try to find one.

Already have OS and all accessories, ty for your help

the new 980 Ti is a beast. its so close to the titan for 65% of the price. if you were to SLI these together you could feasibly run any game maxed at 4k on a single monitor.

So shoot for LGA1150 4790K instead?

Yeah, But if you think you'll be needing the extra threads of the 5820K for anything along the likes of streaming or rendering it may be worth the 100-200USD investment over LGA1150.

LGA1151's Skylake Architecture is also right along the corner and is set to launch from a month from now, You'll likely want to wait for that to see if there are any good improvements over haswell.

Yeah I'm pretty much at this point. Ordered the asus 980ti, now just have to make the decision between 1150 or 2011. All I do is pretty much game on this thing, I don't stream but I do sometimes have multiple vm's up for school

You may find a use for the 2011 V3's extra threads if you're gaming and running a VM at the same time, But the platform has gotten a lot cheaper than it was before.

Probably only 50-100USD for a 2011 rig over an 1150 equivalent, May be worth considering if you want something to brag about at school ;P
