Looking for gaming rig for 2015 and beyond

It has been ages since I have had a desktop, and because I am pretty sick of playing everything on max 30fps, I want a beast that can get me through the gaming-years to come. Other than heavy gaming, I do a lot of video-editing altough I don't necessarily need more than 16GB Ram for that.

Other than that no need for 4K nonsense, I am just looking for a powerful machine that can play all the awesome games to come (Witcher 3 for example) on 60FPS whilst still being able to do all my day-to-day video-editting and graphic design.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thought I included the budget, but I am looking for a rig of max 3000 dollars.

Also if you can list the item you already have and want to include in the build

This is the PC i have and can max out almost all games at 60fps. You left out the most important factor here, Your budget.

As for the peripherals its up to you.

How can you look to spend $3000 on a gaming PC and only aiming for 60FPS?

Solution
$3000 is an awful lot of money to spend in 2015 when the following year there will be advances that will put it to shame, primarily Pascal's unified memory and NVlink. The 980 SLI pack solution is proving to cause problems in some games.

That said, you'll probably be able to get a budget platform (1151) DDR4 MB with a Skylake CPU sometime in 2015. With Dx12 games coming by year end of 2015 though, it would be a shame not to go the extra mile and include uni mem and NVlink.

There's the new AMD 300 series coming 2015, but so far of what Pascal will have, AMD's only matched feature talked about is stacked DRAM. A 300 series card might be a better temp fit than a 900 series Nvidia until Pascal though.

Even the 900 series cards are said to be getting a software based "virtual unified memory" when CUDA 6 releases though. Honestly, if your planned build time is 2015, I would wait and see what the performance and price is on the 300 series AMD cards. Hopefully CUDA 6 will have released by then too.
