PARTS PREFERENCES: None really, if possible a quiet card (without having less performance then other cards in the same range)

OVERCLOCKING: Yes, CPU for certain; not sure about GPU
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe (in time, not from the start)

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1x 1680 x 1050 + 1x 1920 x 1020

with your budget you look for GTX570 or HD6970. but since you're going to get this card next january maybe you want to hold for the next gen card from nvidia and amd.

I would perfer the 6970 personally....... But renz is right if you are going to wait to get your card just hold out for the next gen cards from both companies. Wish I done that but I love my crossfired 6950's
