Avast is out. So, what other programs are reliable in protecting your system? Also, what does anyone know about Avira or Bullguard?

Thanks for your time

Dan

Thanks for the reply Motherboard expert.

Currently I'm using Avira free until I decide which program to purchase. I did have Avast Internet Security, but the other day, it was breached badly. Whoever broke through, set the firewall to block several programs, plus they disabled two of three virus protector programs, denied use of internet. I reset everything in about an hour-no problem. But, Avast is out.

Currently, I have Hitman Pro-paid version, Malwarebytes Premium, and free Avira working for me. Realizing, that no program is 100% perfect, but still looking to find another Internet Security program to supplement the other two.

Thanks for the reply..plaintuts-I got your name right this time.

I spend a lot of my time on computer forums, health forums, and religious forms. And reading world news events. Not much more.

Thanks for your time

Well...

Thats kinda strange to be hacked while visiting religious forums..

The breach you described requires elevated administrator privileges which can be done by basically monitoring your computer activities...

A computer virus is usually programmed to benefit from your Internet connection.. Not turn it off.

Thanks for the reply plaintuts.

No where did I say that I was hacked by a religious forum; you said it. It could have been any one of the other forums also...so it's premature to say where and how the hacked occurred. But, I have my suspicions. This computer is my personal computer-and is well kept. No one else has access to it, and I do have a password to get in.

Who else would have access to turn the connection off through the firewall? About 10 days ago, I had a dispute with Avast about being double charged. After about a week and a half, I ended up going to the local bank to get this dispute resolved. I also posted the problem on their forum on their "General Postings" under my forum name "NOT-MY-FAULT." Go there and read the complaint under "Billings." I did get refunded for the auto-billing of $42.00.

I'm not the only one who has been having trouble with Avast with their billing. There are others there that have refund complaints with them. I decided to drop them altogether, and asked for a refund on my other billing-it's all done within the 30 day grace. But I get the feeling that they didn't take this well-so, go figure.

Thanks for your time.
