Bad idea!
Go with quad core Phenom II
Asus has a nice motherboard, also is very cheap in the store near me.

Try this:
Asus M5A97 R2.0
Phenom II X4 965 BE

I'm not sure about PCIe 3.0 support. You should check on Asus' site.

Ok got a few more specifics, want to have pcie 3.0 I thinkx 16 with option to eventually crossfire. And was curious if speed diff between Sata 3gb is really that noticeably slower than 6?

Your looking for something to handle HD 7770, 8GB of RAM, and a quad core CPU? If people say your shooting yourself in the foot, don't listen to them. If you want to go with Intel i5 3570K, then it's a good one. But inexpensive would be a AMD Phenom II or a FX-4100. What type of quad core did you have in mind?

Well that one can be OC to 3.8-4.0-4.2GHz depending on the CPU cooler (you need aftermarket cooler). I think it's gonna be stable on 4.0 with a nice cpu cooler.

And the motherboard doesn't support pcie 3.0 .
