I am confused by the thought of buying a monitor and how the refresh rate, response time, and the resolution would truly affect my gaming experience. I have a monitor lying around right now that works at 60hz if I don't have enough to buy a new one, but I want to know what I should buy with my rig.

I plan on playing games that range from Counter-Strike to ARMA. I have the rig all planned out for the most part, but I just want to be able to get the best possible monitor for a reasonable price. That being somewhere under $200.

well any refresh rate above 60hz lets you see more than 60fps. the response time is basically how fast you get a response a 5ms or below is great higher than 6ms and its kinda high. the resolution will make it so every thing is finer and more things will fit on the screen. A 1080p monitor is ideal so you can watch hd movies or video, play in hd,etc.
