Currently running a sapphire radeon HD 6450 cuz it was very cheap and I needed to get it up and running. Any and all options would be great!

Also not to worry. RAM and CPU will also be upgraded at the same time I go for the GPU. The FX-8350 is a no brainer. The most my MB can take. I posted about RAM in a different section but some are of course arguing a little more than helping with my decision.

I get 1080p out of my crappy 6450! Although it is nearly impossible to get a decent game with nice graphics stable. HD shows are fine but my last comp boned me. Got a CPU to keep it going a little longer and the DAY the CPU came the MB decided it would get all sparky!

So besides the R9 270X, pretty much anything else is going to be over $200 I can kind of gather. The 270X seems to be getting cheaper every now and then so would that be everyone's advice?

Personally I would suggest the GTX 750 Ti, the EVGA superclocked version is $140, and it plays most games with decent fps at 1080p. Plus, you'll get the great support of EVGA and the driver support of Nvidia. Also, shadowplay 😀

I did have a buddy at work suggest the 750 Ti to me as well. I personally through my research have read the a lot of people have had problems with the 750 and the 750 Ti crashing and what not. Can't believe everything you read on the internet though! The 750 Ti is also cheaper.... I'm also running into the problem of every other person and every other website telling me that my MB, the CPU I want, the GPU, and the RAM I want will not work. So frustrating!

I completely agree. You totally get what you pay for MOST of the time with a GPU. I just REALLY want to stay away from that $200 range when I buy components. Which is why I go AMD instead of intel 😛 The 270x and 280x are going to be the best AMD/Radeon GPUs that go below $200 consistently first. The 270x you can find for $160ish, which I am still a little hesitant. I'd hate to jump the gun if that dropped to $120 and then two or three months later the 280x was $150! I guess I should wait for the 280x :/ I also need to get a better AM3+ MB if I'm doing all this. Any suggestions? Of course price makes a difference but it doesn't hurt to have all the options!

Preferably in the $150 range. I'd definitely settle for a little more of an inferior product if the price was way less. Couldn't be worse than my asrock extreme3.

Sadly I do not. Seattle. I have put a list together of cards for various reasons that include price and performance. Obviously I want the best one, but most of the time the best DEAL wins. My top expensive choices, but not totally unreasonable if they dropped in price are the R9 280X which is $280 give or take, the GTX 760 around $199, and the R9 270x for about $160. AFFORDABLY my choices are the Radeon 7850 at $150 or less, the GTX 750 Ti for $130 or less, and lastly the Radeon 6970 for less than $100. How long do I wait for the 280x to get below $200? A long time! By then the GTX 760 and the 270x could easily be about $115-$130. I'd get the 270X before the 7850. A lot of people really like the 750Ti and its $129 right now. The HD 6970. I probably shouldn't even be considering it but it's so cheap! It's core clock and it's memory clock are noticeably lower than all the rest. All of these GPUs have 2gb memory and are 256 bit. Some have option of being 4gb. What else should I factor in to these choices? Disregard PSU RAM and CPU.

Ya. I gotta say I think that's probably a fantastic deal. Solid research dude thanks!
