Question Looking for Graphics Card for Alienware x51 R2

I'm kind of surprised that Dell has a reasonable price on a GTX 1660. It's a blower design, but I assume your existing GPU is a blower design as well, considering how compact the x51 R2's case is.

It consumes less power than your existing card as well. I don't see why it wouldn't work, though I guess it couldn't hurt to ask Dell to be certain.

The official page of Alienware x51 R2 lists the following compatible processors. Which CPU do you currently have ? That GTX 1660 GPU is a reference blower-type card. Should work.

Also, which power supply is currently installed on this PC ?

4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors (Haswell)

  • Intel® Core™ i3-4150 (Dual Core, 3MB Cache, 3.5 GHz)
  • Intel® Core™ i5-4430 (Quad Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.2 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
  • Intel® Core™ i5-4460 (Quad Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.4 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
  • Intel® Core™ i7-4770 (Quad Core, 8MB Cache, up to 3.9 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
  • Intel® Core™ i7-4790 (Quad Core, 8MB Cache, up to 4.0 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
  • Intel® Core™ i7-4790K(Quad Core, 8MB Cache, up to 4.4 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

They recommend only blower design graphic cards. Do you know any better graphics cards or would you go for that?

You can open the ATX cabinet and check for the label of the power supply. According to the specs listed, the following 2 options are being mentioned by dell:
  • Alienware™ 240 Watt Power Supply (Standard)
  • Alienware™ 330 Watt Power Supply
