I have a hp pavilion p7-1234
I'm wanting to start pc gaming more, and right now I can't do much with my pc.
I'm wanting to be able to play games like: DayZ, GTAV, ARK, CSGO and others, at medium to max settings.
I'm looking for any options, like if I need to buy a power supply to work with a better graphics card, or if it is possible to get good results using my pc's 300W power supply with some graphics card.

For a price range I would like to spend about 250 max. But any info on more expensive cards helps, since I might be able to buy them later on.

Thanks

You will notice some CPU bottleneck, but I think you will be able to live with it.

With your current PSU I would go with GTX 750 or 750ti, but to be sure you can tell us the amperage of 12v rails of your current PSU?

If you want to play GTA V on max settings at 1080p, you'll have to spend more than 250. You'd need a new power supply and a $200-330 or so gpu to come close to maxing it out. With a 300W power supply, you could MAYBE get away with a 750 Ti, which isn't a bad card. It says it requires a 400W power supply, essentially the lowest of any gaming card out there, but you might be able to get away with 300W...that said, I'm guessing your power supply is a generic brand. So I really wouldn't try to run a decent graphics card on it. Get a decent 500-600W power supply and something like an R9 280X or 380.

That desktop doesn't have the most powerful CPU inside of it, mileage may vary on DayZ and GTAV.

The best GPU I could recommend would be a GTX 750 or GTX 750Ti (2GB vRAM), It's a pretty decent GPU, that also has a power draw so low/efficient that you will not need to upgrade your PSU as well. In fact there isn't even additional power cables required, drawing power simply from the PCI-E slot.

Anything higher than these cards will likely be unsupported by the PSU of your system. If you purchase one of these cards just ensure they are models that do NOT have an additional Power connector.

That being said your system will not support anything better than a 750Ti without essentially an entire new system, which is far from cost efficient.

With the 750Ti, what am I looking like in performance? Like playing the games I mentioned?

I don't know what your financial situation is but it would probably be a good idea to completely redo your pc. You might be bottlenecked by your cpu or run into power supply problems, which isn't ideal.

If you don't have the money right now, just buy a decent gpu that draws very little power, like the 750, and upgrade the rest of your pc later.

Since he has 250$, he should get good PSU and CPU and maybe latter upgrade the rest of his system
