Looking for help on a strict budget

I'm looking to upgrade my son's computer due to what I suspect is a dying motherboard on account that ports have started to drop and not come back into function on it. I can salvage a GPU, albeit not the best there is (a GT 430), I have a 550W PSU and I believe a 700W(ish) somewhere I can salvage as well along with a case I can make work. I'm really pushing it by putting a $200 budget on it, but I unfortunately cannot feasibly come up with anything beyond that right now.

I'm primarily looking for a CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrade for him. And if at all possible to squeeze in any upgrade to his GPU if possible on that budget. He only plays Minecraft, Lego World, and Creativerse. It doesn't have to be ran at the best possible settings, just able to be played.

If I can provide an example of what he is entirely content with playing, spec wise, he's currently on an Intel E5400 CPU, GT 430 GPU, and 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM.

I'm currently attempting to piece options together myself but would really appreciate any help and suggestions/options anyone could provide.

Thank you all in advanced.

Solution
Here's something I put together. The pentium should give performance on par with an I3 6100.

You mean like a house with a roof over his head? Electricity to run his computer and heat to not freeze in the winter?

If everything was acceptable with the current GPU, then sticking with it for now would be OK.

For a CPU/mobo/RAM combo, this would be more than sufficient for the tasks you've outlined:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($59.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Asus H110M-E/M.2 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($46.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($55.39 @ OutletPC)
Total: $162.36
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

And then when it's affordable, go for something like this:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PXkwrH/gigabyte-radeon-rx-460-2gb-windforce-oc-video-card-gv-rx460wf2oc-2gd

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sc4NnQ/evga-geforce-gtx-1050-2gb-acx-20-video-card-02g-p4-6150-kr

This would be an acceptable upgrade too:

and be a bit more affordable, but as adding either puts you out of budget, waiting for the RX460/GTX1050 is worth it as the difference between those and the GT730 is fairly substantial.

Here's the same build with an Rx 460. it's over budget by about 60 bucks.

this will cost you around $205..hope this will help you

I might suggest a cpu with hd 530 or 630 which is better than the gt 430. You could also go with the used route, maybe look at your local craigslist. You can get better performance for the price. But in that case, a whole tower is cheaper than individual parts.

I'll have to give them a good look. Do you happen to have any personal preference by chance of one you'd use/suggest?

Also thank you all for the help already. I can't begin to thank you all enough with how helpful you all are. Just know you've already helped put a big smile on my little dudes face with helping me get him up and running again.

I actually ended up going with your motherboard solution. I really wish I could choose multiple solutions because I mix and matched to come up with what I saw fit. Thank you again, I really appreciate the help
