looking for help on typing information in. After I type it in and close the program, and reopen it, what I typed is not there

After typing my information in for the day, and close the program, then reopen it, what I typed in is not there.

what program are you using and do you save your work.not all programs will save it automatically or prompt you to save for that matter.
