[SOLVED] Looking for help retrieving data from RAID 0 HDDs

Recently my old PC died before I could back up the data on my two 500GB HDDs which were set up in a RAID 0 configuration. I suspected it was the PSU, however when I tried running the old guts to my new PSU it wouldn't boot, leading me to believe the mobo died. I've also tried simply plugging the old HHDs into my new mobo along with the new drives but again it wouldn't boot. I am fully willing to accept that I may have plugged things in incorrectly as I'm not very tech-savvy. The bottom line is I have a great deal of important data (photos, videos, etc) on those old drives and would very much like to get it all onto the new PC.
The old mobo is a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P. Someone else installed the RAID drivers but I do recall it being software-based. (We had to scare up a 3.5" drive and floppies to install them!)
I'm happy to provide any other necessary details and appreciate any support you all can give. Thanks in advance.

Software RAID 0 from a different PC?

You're out of luck with retrieving any data from that.

"a great deal of important data"
This is why we stress backup backup backup.
Triply so for any RAID 0

I've been looking around and heard about RAID recovery software. That won't do me any good? Barring that, am I just going to waste my time taking the drives to a professional? Am I truly SoL here? ;(

I am assuming my drives are okay, but I don't really have the tools or expertise to say definitively. As I mentioned in the OP, reconnecting the old mobo to a new PSU yielded nothing. As for the link there...almost all of that is way over my head. But I've only ever used the cables that came with the components. One ought to be able to safely assume those won't cause problems, no?
