Hello Everyone,
My name is Raymond (Ray For Short) I recently made a visit to the Local Computer Recycling Depot and It was raining 🙁 And I came across a few Dell Optiplex 990 PC's from a busness, I grabed one, and It was like a fish tank... It was covered in water, I have removed all the Components and the Family of Earwigs living inside, I dont think I will ever use the PSU Again, but I would like to get the Motherboard working and functioning Properly... Because there Is an Intel i3 2500 Inside (Which is better then every PC I own) I have dried everything with Tissues to Rags, I still can feel water in the Memory area, Also Since i mentioned that I'm obviously not using the original PSU, I have a Second PSU (Thats Not Wet :) ) But it has a 20 Pin Connecter to the motherboard, what i want to know is would a 20 Pin Motherboard connection fit into a 24 Pin Connection?

Solution
If the CMOS battery was still functioning....the waterlogged motherboard might be shot. However, rainwater is freshwater, so there's a chance you're safe.

If it's all gummed up with possible corrosion, i'm not kidding, run it through the Dish Washer (Cascade powder works well). Be sure to remove the CMOS battery first. Once the wash cycle is complete, remove it and blow all the water out. Now spray it with some isopropyl alcohol to pull the remaining moisture out. Don't pour, but spray. Too much at too strong concentrations could ruin the board too.

If that doesn't work, well, it was probably a lost cause anyways.

I haven't had any signs of corrosion, its like new, the previous owner was dumb, by leaving the side panel off and missing, it must of been there for less then 1 week, But I dont have a Dishwasher, Is there an alternative?

http://www.crcindustries.com/products/qd-174-electronic-cleaner-11-wt-oz-05103.html. You can find that typically in your nearest automotive store (Autozone, etc).

Do NOT use Mass airflow, throttle-body, or brake cleaner. Those are harsh solvents and will destroy the MB.

If it's in really good shape, just let it dry out on its own.

K, I will do that, I will leave it out for about 2-3 days or so, then try it Thanks For Your Help! :)
