[SOLVED] Looking for higher resolution 19-inch "square" second monitor

I have a 19" Lenovo L1900pA with 1280x1024 (5:4) resolution. This is really convenient size for a second monitor to support my Lenovo laptop. Unfortunately, it's acting up and I may need a new unit soon.

Comparing the resolution of my laptop to this external monitor, the external monitor's resolution is 63% lower.
If I scale up the resolution of my laptop screen (2280x1620) to 5:4, then the 5:4 resolution should be 2022 x 1620.
As far as I can tell, no one is making a screen with this level of resolution.

I don't really have the room for another widescreen monitor next to my laptop; A square format is ideal.
Any ideas why no one is making a higher resolution second monitor in this aspect ratio (5:4)?

19" 1280x1024 panels are still out there, but probably mostly new old stock. No telling how long they will last.

As for your desired panel. I can't imagine why anyone would make that. A very strange resolution that equates to no standard.

You have what I suppose amounts to a 3:2 laptop screen which is increasingly popular. I don't think anyone is manufacturing desktop monitors with that ratio yet. And I'm not entirely sure why they would, whole reason for using larger panels is to get higher resolutions which allow for more 'real estate'. So 1440p, 4K, and 5K being the desired resolutions for monitors above 24".

If you want a smaller monitor with a higher resolution, you are going to have to look at direct to manufacturer products that will cost you a fortune to get as a single unit, if at all.

You could find 3:2 Laptop LCDs and build your own stand, adapter, and power supply. There are open source kits out there for that. Depends how comfortable you are with doing something like that.
