Why I Need a Printer and Current Printer Information
I currently have an HP Photosmart C310a All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Copier that runs on ink. However, it's black ink tray thing (sorry I am not that great with printer terminology...) is dead and it will never print black again unless I buy a $40 replacement. This seems cheap, however it's an ink printer anyways which costs us already WAY more than a laser printer and toner would cost and the printer has a bad reputation for black ink always breaking.

What I am Looking For
I would like a laser version of my current printer basically. All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Copier with wireless printing/control as I am unable to connect each computer to it with a cable and SD cards or USB storage is too much of a hassle. It must have color capabilities as I am in school and color is very important for this. If possible, I would like for the printer to be very efficient and cheap to run and fast at printing as my current printer is very slow. The printer should be able to print on many paper sizes, anything from a 3 by 5" index card to standard 8.5 by 11" paper. It would be nice if the printer didn't take up much room and could easily sit on a desk. Finally, I would like to get a printer that is known for being reliable and will last me many years.

Price
I do not have very much money so if possible, I would like to buy a printer that is, at most, around $300. I don't know that much about printers so I don't know if this is reasonable or not, but with a quick search, I was having a hard time finding anything good at any price.

Thank you for your help and have a great day!

i use the Canon mx490, iv had it for a year and a half now and it is AWESOME!!! i got it for 70$ CAD (brand new from walmart), it is wireless, supports usb physical connection, can support multiple paper types and includes a scanner + fax in the machine itself

That's an ink printer. Ink is extremely expensive...

I may not have said it earlier, but I would rather pay more money for a printer that runs very cheaply as this would save money in the long run than to pay almost nothing for another inkjet that prints like 1 page per cartridge, each of which is $20... Also, I like the print quality of laser printers much more than ink.

A quick note about inkjet printers. They come in just two types; ones that are economical on ink but are crap, and ones that waste gallons of ink on every start-up cycle but work very well.

I went for option 2 but first sourced a supplier of super-cheap ink cartridges on eBay. I bought a Canon MX925 (a slightly older model) and I make a point of trying to print lots of stuff in one go so that I don't waste ink on the start-up cycle - that's when the printer purges the jets by pumping ink through them. It still guzzles ink, but the ink is £13 for 30 cartridges instead of £15 for 3 cartridges. The ink probably isn't as good, but it seems okay to me.

I'm sorry, but I very clearly stated that I was looking for a laser printer. I've just had bad experience with ink printers and the quality I've had on the few laser printers I've used is far superior and the ink doesn't come off as easily (we use very high quality ink and paper when possible...)
