Hi all,

I'm interested in learning about how computers work, from the bottom to the top. I do not have the money or time to go to school for it, so I'm trying to figure it out on my own. Right now I have a decent portion of knowledge about it, but what I really need to figure out is the building blocks of computers in order to connect the knowledge I currently have.

I haven't been able to find a site online that really covers the basics of computer makeup and info. (Well, in non-complicated terms anyways. Most of the stuff I've come across is teaching people that they assume already has a vast knowledge of exactly how computers works, which I'm not 100% on.)

Do you all have any references for me to study to start on the journey of figuring this stuff out? Books or internet, either or.

Edit. You know, I just realized I may have put this in the wrong category? Sorry, I'm new to the site and wasn't really sure what category to place it under.

When you say bottom to top do you mean the actual science that goes behind it?

You could always look into the Comptia A+ books, I got one borrowed from the library, it covers everything from hardware, software to troubleshooting and so forth.
