So I'll just drop this info here:

MOBO: ASUS Z97-A
CPU: Intel I5-4960K
PSU: Corsair something or another 550W
GPU: Evga Geforce 750 Ti
RAM: Some cheap 1333 Ghz Wintec 2 x 4Gb
OS: Windows 8.1
HDD: Recycled 256 Gb from my old Dell (Not sufficient in the least)

This is a PC that I'm building "over time" more like, pay cheque to pay cheque.
But I seem to be getting to the more nitty gritty.

My next big "Buy" I'm thinking about getting my self some 2 x 16 GB RAM (there is a 4 x 4Gb set which is apparently ideal for overclocking but more on that later) a 120 GB SSD for High Demand game storage (BF4, WoW, whatever else I feel needs it) and then a 1TB HDD for everything else.

If you haven't guessed I'm tying to build a gaming rig. Or at least I hope that's the end result.

If I could find an all around "build category" I'd post this there but I cannot.

Anyways I'm trying to do some research for my next graphic's card as the 750 Ti seems to be unable to keep up with BF4.

It's a purchase I plan on making last as I just bought the 750. I'm leaning towards the 970 series but I'm hoping to get some more "in-the-know" input on what might work best or better.

My budget for a graphics card is $500 for a card. Now if I need to stretch that out a bit to receive an all around higher quality product I'm willing to make that sacrifice. I'd probably never exceed $700 though, I mean like. That is a lot of coin and all. (SLI sounds fine and dandy but I'm not sure if I really need that kind of power I might at some point for the heck of it)

Now I said I would get to Overclocking later, overclocking for me is a novelty but I planned this build around the idea of getting to overclock this build at some point. Probably within the next year. Hence why I bought the 4960K and the Z97-A.

Solution
GTX 970 get first!! GTX 980 you could afford but the 970 has way better value for it's performance (better than gtx 780). Use the extra $200 for RAM and drives.
Hi,
Honestly if you're building a gaming rig, 2x 16GB RAM is a waste of money. The RAM you have is just fine. I have the same setup.

If you do want faster RAM, go for 1600MHZ 2x 8GB.

The PSU should be okay for a single GPU. You should make sure what PSU you have. Not all PSUs are created equal!

The 970 is awesome. I have one. Battlefield 4 on 1080p isn't a problem. Over clocking my MSI GTX 970 took about 3 minutes and gives me that extra push to hit 60fps constantly.

If you are gaming at 1080p/ultra the 970 is the best option, in my opinion. The 980 isn't worth the extra money to me.

If you do not need 1080p/ultra go for the r9 280x and save a few bucks.

Hope that helps!

Guess 970 it is! From what I can tell the difference between the 970 - 980 isn't all that great at all. Don't think I can justify buying it.

I've read and heard nothing but great things about the 970, it's a bit worry some that I have yet to hear anything really bad about it.

Thanks for the outside opinions folks much appreciated!
