We need wifi in our church and the presbytery is across the road someone has suggested using wifi signal extenders to send the signal from the front office to across the road to the church I personally think the distance is too great can you advise the best solution please

Solution
if they have a biz account with comcast or another isp/tv. see what the cost would be for a second modem on the account for basic internet. use the second modem in the church. also speak with few local cable installers t osee what the cost would be to run a hard line once between the two buildings.

You could probably do a point-to-point link across the road. You would add an outdoor directional WIFI on each building pointing at each other. The outdoor units are connect to the inside via a standard ethernet cable.
Since this is an urban/suburban area, I would recommend using a 5Ghz link. A pair of Engenius ENS500 or Ubiquiti nanostaion M (5Ghz) units.

A direct line between building across a public road may be impractical because of permitting and other regulatory issues. Also agree that checking with the ISP to get a second modem is worth exploring.
