Hello,

I am looking for help selecting a kvm. I would like to have a switch for 2 systems, 2 monitors, one keyboard, and one mouse.

Home computer:

-XFX Radeon R9 390 DirectX 12 R9-390P-8256 8GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Double Dissipation XXX OC Video Card

-Windows 10

-(2x) ASUS VG248QE Black 24" Gaming Monitor, 144Hz 1ms (GTG), 3D Monitor, Height & pivot adjustable, 350 cd/m2, Built-in Speakers

Surface Pro (128 GB version):

-Windows 10
-USB 3.0
-Mini display port
-Hub: 2 Mini display ports, 2 USB Ports, attaches to surface pro via power cord.

The reason for why I'm looking for this is for days when I work at home so that I may quickly and easily hook up my surface pro from work to my home computer.

Thank you!

Solution
You may want to consider a simple mouse/keyboard switcher and use the controls on the monitors to switch between inputs.

I was using a single monitor switch that I got for nothing. I soon found out that KVM gear is not really designed to handle high end gaming monitors. Even though my video card and monitor could easily run 144hz with the KVM in the path it limited it to 60hz.

After some looking I did find some units that could support faster refresh rates but they were as expensive as just buying another monitor for the other machine, which is what I did.

Running a dual monitor configuration is going to put even more bandwidth requirements on a KVM so I expect they are going to be expensive.

I have a similar setup, however use a laptop (via docking station) & Surface pro 3 (via docking station). I use a Aten CS1642A KVM that connects to two monitors. It's brilliant & easy to setup!,

Is it possible to use synergy & KVM together?? Ideally I would like to use all of Comp 1 on both screens or all of Comp 2 on both screens and when required use comp 1 on left screen with comp 2 on right screen. Do you think this is possible?
