Hi folks. I'm looking for a monitor to go with a computer running a i5-6600K and GTX 980ti. The computer will be used for gaming (WoW, HotS, single player FPSs and RPGs), general computing, photo viewing/editing, and maybe 3-D modeling. I've been reading through everything I can find about the various options and think a 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60hz model would likely be best for my desired budget (roughly $300 US). While 1440p 144hz would be great, they look to be higher than my price range ($500+). I figure whatever I buy now can be used as a 2nd display once the prices of 1440p 144hz units comes down more. The models I've narrowed down to listed below as well as a pcpartpicker link to the list. They are all within the price range of $250-300 depending on sales. Any input you could offer between these models or 1440p 60hz vs 1080p 144hz in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and help!

CPU + GPU: i5-6600K + GTX 980ti
Budget: ideally around $300 US

144hz monitors are great and smooth, but aren't needed unless for games like csgo and such. 1440p monitors are also great, but less things support it since it isn't a popular resolution. I would suggest either a 144hz 1080p monitor, or a 2k-4k 60hz monitor. Just find whatever fits your budget

I have a similar setup and bought a QNIX QX2710, they are around $250, come with IPS/PLS screen, 27', 1440p resolution and can overclock to about 100Hz.

Is there a difference between 1440p and 2k? I thought they were both the same resolution of 2560 x 1440.
