So I have been looking for a new monitor just to update out of my older one. I don't need something "better", just something good for what I need. I don't care about 4k and all that jazz, so 1080p is still great for me. This is currently the monitor I am using that I bought back in 2012, and honestly this one suited me really well all this time:

So honestly slightly bigger is fine, but I had someone tell me not to get much bigger due to pixel density or something. I really don't know anything about monitors lol.

The other Asus models doesn't seem to fit your requirement (like the VP247H-P, which is almost the same as the VN247H-P but thicker bezels).

I found an Acer model (thinner bezels) but with a few upgrade/downgrade to your requirements:

Acer R240HY bidx
$129.99 | 23.8" size | 4ms | IPS panel | 250cd/sqm brightness | no speakers | can overclock to 75Hz
Matte finish frame and stand | Stand motion: Tilt only | "Zero Frame" bezel | No wall-mounting support

Based on your requirements ($170 max. budget, 1920 x 1080 resolution, slightly bigger than current 23", Asus thin bezels, has HDMI connection, and for gaming, i.e., fast response time), here's my recommendation:

Asus VN247H-P
$163.99 | 23.6" size | 1ms | 250cd/sqm brightness | 2W x 2 speakers
Matte finish frame and stand | Stand motion: Tilt only | <10mm bezel | Supports wall-mounting
