Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week (the closer the better)

Budget Range: $600-800 (as the parts cost a lot more in my home country of India, a $700 build would need me to shell out around $1000)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Light gaming.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, MoBo, RAM, Keyboard and Mouse. Want to add in an SSD. Will retain the Case (Corsair 500R) and HDD (1TB WD Blue). Open to retaining the GPU (GTX 660) and PSU (Corsair CX430 v1). GPU was bought in 2014, PSU in 2011.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com OR, https://www.mdcomputers.in (budget is around 50,000 INR in local currency)

Location: City, State/Region, Country - India (country), Kolkata (city).

Parts Preferences: None.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments:

I used to be fairly active in these forums back in 2011 or so. Then I got really busy with studies when I got into high school and then in university. I used my 2011 build very sparingly over the last 3-4 years, and I almost didn’t use it at all over the last two years. As a result, it gives me a lot of hassle from time to time, and sometimes even refuses to boot (two beeps).

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:

My current build is turning out to be really problematic and more often than not doesn’t even want to boot. It’s also pretty old now specs-wise:

i3 2100, Intel DH61WW, 4 + 2GB of DDR3 1333 RAM, a GTX 660, 1TB WD Blue, Corsair CX430 and Corsair 500R.

I extensively use a Retina MacBook Pro for work, so the new build will be almost exclusively used for light gaming: F1 2017, FIFA 18, etc. sports titles, and my small brother may sometimes play GTA V on it. I don’t really like playing heavy, resource-intensive FPS or multiplier games like Battlefield and the likes. I just want a build that can comfortably run at least the next 3-4-5 iterations of FIFA and F1.

Thanks. Though your 2nd link is broken.

I actually don't need a case (having a Corsair 500R). I've been reading claims of GPU prices being sky high right now due to a scarcity caused by crypto-miners. In that case, would it be better to retain my GTX 660 for a bit more and wait for prices to come down?

Since you said that you hardly do any gaming and that it's your kid brother who is gonna be playing, I will leave the decision abt gpu upgrade to you.
But yes, u can use ur old gtx 660.
And BTW, I haven't included a case in the links above ;)

Oops, sorry. It was the other person who replied who included a case.

Anyway, the only purpose of the machine will be light gaming (F1, FIFA etc. sports titles for me, and mainly GTA V for my brother).

My second link works fine. Try again?

Go with the 1050ti if you're worried about cryptominers, it really is the best price-performance card right now. You can get 60 FPS on high settings in 1080p pretty easily.

Update:

I ended up getting the following:

Ryzen 5 1600
ASUS B350 mATX board
8GB GSkill 2400MHz DDR4
CoolerMaster Devastator 3 Gaming Mouse & Keyboard Combo with multi-LED backlight
Corsair VS450 (PSU prices have skyrocketed here due to our Govt. imposing additional taxes on them)

GPU prices still seemed too high, so I'm using my existing 2GB GTX 660 for now, and it's playing FIFA 17 and F1 2016 just fine, so I'm happy for now. The Ryzen feels like an absolute beast compared to my old i3 2100.

Not anymore. Also, the Antec seems to be around 50% more expensive. Are the VS PSUs really that bad?
