I would start by downloading Steam. You are going to find that many PC games use Steam for DRM even if you buy them from other sources. Steam has great seasonal sales as well as daily deals. The reason PC gaming is cheaper is because there are so many places to buy your games and someone is always having a sale. Amazon, Green Man, Gaming, and gog.com are other places to check out. When you buy games from these places you often just get a code to redeem on Steam (or uPlay or Origin). Gog would be a good one for you since it's mostly older games that can run on any hardware.

I'm not sure if your tablet has the horsepower to play...

you probably can run call of duty modern warfare 1 to 3 because they are really light --- FPS
FIFA series --- also really light weight and will run on almost any system .. Simulator
need for speed speed up to most wanted 2005 --- Racing
old source engine games and some retro games like unreal tournament will be some great time wasters

try
1. using emulators for n64, nds/wii etc...
2.RTS - age of empires/mythology series warcraft
3. RPG- bladurs gate, fable 1, maybe TES till morrowind
4.racing-roadrash,motogp
5.action- till gta san andreas

I'm not sure if your tablet has the horsepower to play Civilization V but if it does I would check that out. Someone I work with has put hundreds of hours in on his windows tablet while traveling. It has a separate interface they designed for Windows on a touchscreen. I think his has a mobile GPU built in though. If it can't I would think about the older Civ games. Slow paced strategy games like that will be easier than most games to play on a touch screen.

Edit: Keep Peggle and Peggle Nights in mind too. They are cheap and don't require powerful hardware. Plants vs. Zombies and other light tower defense games should be ok too.
