Additional Comments:
A quiet PC would be a plus.

I enjoy playing MMORPGs like WoW and FF14. I also play some modern games like Tombraider. I know MMOs are not the most demanding games, but at 3440x1440 100hz-120hz on Ultra/High settings, they can become challenging to run. I've been gaming at 1440p medium settings at 40-60 fps with my current build.

Why Are You Upgrading: I want to replace my current aging build and take advantage of my new Dell Alienware 1900R. I would like to game a 100hz-120hz on Ultra/High settings.

Include a list of any parts you have already selected with descriptively labeled links for parts.
I took some suggestions from this website: Logical Increments http://www.logicalincrements.com/ and came up with some parts along with some of my own choices. Their "Outstanding ($1470)" build seems to fit my budget and performance goals.

Still playing around with combinations and budget. This is just a base start I borrowed from the website. I will most likely try to wait for some better deals come Christmas. My biggest concern is overbuilding or spending too much or too little on specific components. The parts I have most trouble choosing are the mobo, ram, power supply, and GPU. Please leave any suggestions and thank you.

UPDATE:
Here's an updated build I came up with from Pcpartpicker:

Solution
ASRocks are good performers at a competitive price. But, most ~$150-$180 boards perform similarly. Just find one with enough headers to support your fans.

What did hyperthreading help you with? I mainly need this build for gaming.

CPU load - games are using more and more threads as time goes on. BFV utilizes all 12 threads on mine, several by more than 50%. If you get the 9600k, you have the same physical cores as me but they aren’t as good at handling multiple threads - BUT all the same work still has to be done. So, all 6 cores get pushed to the max and a good chance of lower fps. Make sense?

Good to know thanks.

I'd like to add my point of view as well. I have the same monitor (Dell aw3418dw) and found that I had to upgrade my 1070 to a 1080 ti once I got it, this monitor is very demanding. I play more modern triple a games though, and For MMOs that 2070 should do great. I'd be worried about games like tombraider though, as the 2070 wont be pushing near 100 fps in that game. Luckily you have g sync so anything over 60 fps should still look good, whatever you do it'll be a big upgrade.

I'm curious why you went with that motherboard. I find it hard choosing one and don't want to overpay or buy a cheap one either.

Ya, my thoughts exactly. Was actually thinking of just going for the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming OC ($749.99) instead.
