The BenQ monitor you chose is a good all-around monitor at that price point, good pick. If you don't want an SSD then again I'd recommend the WD Black, as it's faster and will still help some with boot and load times. If you have your heart set on the Blue it'll do just fine. If you're not overclocking then here are the changes I'd make...you don't need a Z97 system at all. H97 is exactly the same except it's not for OC'ing. It seems you like ASRock, and they do get good reviews, but their boards tend to be too flimsy for me to recommend. Asus and Gigabyte are the royalty of mobo's, following by MSI and ASRock and I chose a good Gigabyte one.

I still think you're paying too much for a CPU but again, it's your build and if your heart is...
Typically money becomes an issue for everyone at some point. For example this is my dream gaming rig:

Can you give me an estimate on price range?

J

No point in a Z97 board, with a locked CPU, unless you want SLI. Go to a less expensive Gigabyte Z97x-sli board, if not wanting to overclock. If want to overclock, you want a 4790k, and an aftermarket cooler. Bad choice in PSU. Go with an XFX 650w instead. I would go with the Bitfenix Comrade over the Spec-02, as cooling options are limited for that Spec-02, should you decide you want an aftermarket cooler. I would go with an MSI twin frozer vs a Gigabyte windforce. Gigabyte graphics cards are not as good of quality, as their motherboards.

Alright, updated realistic version:

The only assumption I'm making here is that you will be overclocking. If not, let me know and I'll change the CPU, mobo and heatsink. The i5 I picked is extremely well-performing, and it typically OC's to 4.5Ghz (mine did anyway). Much above this spec and you are not getting a lot more performance, but the price launches into the stratosphere. I included a high-performing and reasonably-priced CPU Cooler, which you'll need if OC'ing. Since you want wireless capability it's preferable to get a mobo that comes with it instead of an add-on, so I selected an excellent one by Asus. I added an SSD which is where you should put your games..it will greatly decreases boot-up and load times for every game you have, you'll never want to go back. Plus you still have your 1tb regular HDD. I kept your case and upgraded the quality of your power supply, as you will want quality components, especially if OC'ing. I went with your same monitor, but there are some higher-quality 24" models if you're open to that. I don't know how you found that monitor at $145, but that price if you can!

I'd recommend two case fans for the top rear of your case, so you can get a negative air flow in your case, and you won't find better quality than Noctua fans. I didn't touch your keyboard or speakers, since you are probably happy with those. You'll be able to run any game in the world with this set up:

Picked a different case with more integrated fans, the monitor is actually a BenQ GW2450HM, couldn't find it under PCPartpicker so I listed that instead. I'm more interested in color reproduction than refresh rates or response times, so 4ms with my VA panel works perfectly for me. Not really interested in an SSD right now, maybe later down the line. Not looking to overclock my CPU, so aftermarket cooler isn't 100% necessary, but I may get one later if I decide to improve the lifespan of the CPU. Also decided to go with MSI's card over Gigabytes, cheaper with higher clock rates. I'm pretty sure a 500 watt PSU would be enough overhead since I'm not overclocking, but let me know what you guys think with this new list.

Edit: Changed Operating system to 8.1 OEM for the cheaper price also

That PSU has to go. It is not a very good one. You want a PCI-E WiFi adapter. USB ones are not as reliable. Those are the only two glaring issues I see. Also, I do not include MIR's in my builds. Your build is $1319.73 before MIR's.

I still think you're paying too much for a CPU but again, it's your build and if your heart is set on it then you'll be happy. Your CPU runs hot enough I would actually recommend the cheap cooler I've included here, to make sure it doesn't throttle under heavy load.

As for the PSU listen to Logain, you really need one with higher quality components. I've included one that will save you money and it still excellent. You're right, you don't need any more than 600W, but it's not about the wattage it's about the quality of the building materials and how it affects the power under load. It's one of the critical components of any build, which is why I continue to harp on it. Overall you've got a good build bro. Here are my tweaks:

I would say this build pretty much does everything you need while maximizing price per component efficiency. The monitor is a stand in for the BenQ GW2450HM, and the PCI network adaptor is way less hassle once it is installed.

Important notes: I'd say now is around the time to buy all the parts, save the GTX 970. Pretty sure Nvidia will release 6 or 8 GB models sometime between now and Christmas, or at least early next year. Buy the graphics card then to completely future proof it for upcoming games with (unreasonably) high Vram requirements. It should be a small hike in price, but completely worth it.

Alright thank you guys, I'll probably hold off on the GTX until the 8GB comes out but otherwise this fits all my criteria. And i saved about 200$ (aww yiss) off of the original build. I definitely wont be overclocking any time soon so that H97 will be perfect for what im using. Thanks again guys, cheers
