hi im new to this forum but i need help
im wanting to upgrade my pc i do 3d modeling and gaming and right now my amd fx 6300 is not cutting it
i right now have 16gb ddr3 ram a fx 6300 overclocked to 4.5ghz a 760g chipset motherboard a corsair h80i and a evga bronze 700w psu
my gpu is a 970 and what i want to know a few things
first what cpu is the best for me i could get a 4790k a 6700k or a 5820k or something else in that price range as good
i want the ability to sli two 970s as i will soon get a 2nd or a gtx 1080 depending on price
also if i get a 5820k i need to get new ram which as i want to get 32gb will need a new set of ddr4 which would be costly and if i did a sli 970 would my psu be enough

bottom line is a 5820k worth it over the 4790k or 6700k for my use

Solution
The i7 5820k will be much better in multi-threaded applications like the ones you use.

Those all three are great and will make a huge performance improvement:)!
easiest solution would be to get a new Mobo Z97 and 4790k.
If u want newer then get ddr4 , z170 mobo and 6700k :)

for me are there any advantages in ddr4?
and for software i use maya and blender

Not really...
u just save money if u stick with ddr3 & 16GB is sweet spot

so even though im getting a older 4790k it will be good enough for my uses and also will it last me at least 3 years im trying to make this pc last as long as possible with a 900$ budget
and sorry i forgot to say this earlier for a gpu is a 970 enough or should i get a 2nd 970 or a 1070
and it will work for time to time when i host a minecraft server? i play minecraft titanfall tombraider and bf4

Solution

and one last thing can i overclock and possably sli on that motherboard?

Yes but if u got big budget and dont mind using it all then just take new parts :) You can always take that i7 5820k and u will have no worries about performance.

Watch some benchmarks and u can figure out which is best for u :)

wait for 1070 and u will have good pc for years!

You can overclock and it supports 3-way SLI. Always a single graphics card is better than SLI, so sell off the GTX 970 and get a GTX 1070/1080.

so 5820k with a single 1070 is the best option?
and will my psu support it?

Yes that is great 😛!

Yeah, that one is great. Tier 1, top-notch. But 1000w is overkill, can you get something like 650-750w for cheaper rates?

yes that would be a 750 for 65$ so i thought the 1000 would be worth 10$
