We're building an OC Pentium D 805 setup. We've got a retail chip, an ASUS P5VDC-MX board (budget), and 2 Gig of OCZ gold 667 RAM. Problem is, the board doesn't seem to like the RAM. I'm not sure if this is because the RAM is 1.9V or what. Also the board has terrible OC capability (you can only OC in %, like 5%, 10%, etc)

Can anyone suggest a better board for this config, that is not too pricey (between 100-150). Also, if anyone has any ideas why the RAM is acting up with the current board, please give a shout.

Thanks,
Josh

Have the same RAM and run it with no problems in this system:

Pentium D 805 Smithfield @3.4
ASUS P5DLM2-VM Micro G945
OCZ Gold PC5400 DDR2 667 mhz. 512 x 4
Sapphire ATI x1800xt
WD 74 Raptor w/2 40mm HD cooler

I wouldn't necessarily recommend my MB for overclocking, but your RAM will work just fine. My build is a micro and the board uses the 945G chipset which has it's limitations. I can still get over a 900mhz overclock with the board and an 805 D.

Try reading this THG article on overclocking the 805 D. Here are the authors suggestions on chipsets preferences.
